Ricky Hinde spent 30 years inside the telecoms industry — the infrastructure that delivers distraction to billions of people before breakfast. During that time he trained tens of thousands of leaders across Africa, facilitated large-format corporate events from Johannesburg to Lagos, and watched up close what the noise of modern performance culture does to people: it silences their lead violin, it drowns out their signal, it turns their relationships into calendar entries and their career into a performance rather than a calling.

One Friday night, at 52, a single thought arrived in the silence: it's all just noise. Not a cliché. A diagnosis. And a doorway.
